As well as offering some fantastic views and opportunities to get out in nature the Cotswolds are the perfect place for a family outing. Whether you want to spend the weekend away from home, are planning a day trip or looking to enjoy a longer ‘staycation’ you’ll find plenty to keep children of all ages entertained. We’ve compiled a list of our favourite family activities in the Cotswolds.

Blenheim Palace

This stunning building is home to stunning architecture and 2,000 acres of gardens and parklands ideal for families of all ages to explore and discover. The giant hedge maze at Blenheim Palace is a must, while those who love a touch of the exotic should head to the butterfly house. Keep little ones active in the play area where there are swings, slides, a sand pit and more, or take a ride on the miniature train.

The Falconry Centre

Ideal for little ones and fascinating for the grown ups as well the Falconry Centre is home to some of the UK’s biggest birds of prey. Enjoy Eagle Days and admire these amazing creatures or get up close to the centre’s many varieties of owls during Owl Evening. For the full experience book the introductory day and meet a range of different birds as well as handling and walking with several varieties.

Sudeley Castle

Sudeley Castle puts on activities for children throughout the year, including Easter Egg Hunts, Treasure Trails and more. If you’re visiting outside of the school holidays there’s plenty to keep you entertained as well, including the assault course and even a zip wire for the more daring kids – and those who are just young at heart.

Cogges Manor Farm

Cogges Manor Farm is ideal for those wanting to try out some of the family activities in the Cotswolds. The extensive gardens are perfect for adventurous little ones wanting to stretch their legs and search for native wildlife including badgers and bats. The Adventure Play area includes a big wooden castle with a wobbly bridge, wooden climbing frame and even a zip wire. Kids will also love the petting farm. Pick up a bowl of vegetables on your way in and make friends with pigs, goats, sheep, rabbits, ponies and more.

Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway

This heritage railway is home to one of the UK’s few remaining steam trains, providing an ideal day out for the family in the Cotswolds. It’s the perfect place to take little ones, especially if they love all things trains. Throughout the year the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway also puts on family friendly activities, including Santa Specials, Teddy Bear Tuesdays, the Easter Eggspress and more.
